Wallace the Rabbit Recreates Fred Astaire’s “Ceiling Dance”

Wallace the rabbit has made his leap from devoted servant to majestic dancer. Watch him nimbly frolics across his cardboard stage, cavorting up the wall as if gravity cannot constrain him. His prancing is enhanced by his uncanny ability to chow down on a carrot while he maintains perfect choreographed discipline. At the culminating, awe inspiring moment when he ascends to the ceiling, he knocks over the chandelier and ruins the entire effect. Wallace’s performance pays homage to a long tradition of performers dancing on walls and ceilings, being dragged around rooms by evil spirits, and beating up dream gangsters inside of dreams within dreams. Here is a list of films and music videos that use this effect: Royal Wedding (1951) 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) Poltergeist (1982) Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) The Fly (1986) Lionel Richie’s “Dancing On The Ceiling” Music Video (1986) Interview With The Vampire (1994) Inception (2010) Music Credit: “Odyss
