Tour de France 2023, Stage 18 (Moûtiers - Bourg-en-Bresse), course, route, profile, animation

“Thursday, 20 July The 18th stage of the Tour between Moûtiers and Bourg-en-Bresse is a flat to hilly 185.3 kilometre adventure. It could be a stage where a so far relatively unknown rider makes his mark as a breakaway and winner. Or the teams with the men with the fast legs organise a mass sprint. Bourg-en-Bresse is the birthplace of Cofidis rider Pierre-Luc Périchon. The small town has been the starting point four times and the finishing point twice. Thor Hushovd and Tom Boonen were the sprint winners in Bourg-en-Bresse, in 2002 and 2007 respectively. That says everything about the expected development of the 18th Tour stage. It is not completely flat, but the climbs are very few. Moreover, the only KOM climbs, the Côte de Chambéry-le-Haut (1.6 kilometres at 4.1%) and the Côte de Boisseu (2.4 kilometres at 4.7%), are far from the finish.“ ( & Routes ’n’ Maps ’n’ Flags) Creating cycling stage animations requires a lot of work and computing power.
