SWISS ARMY 1973 DEFENSE TRAINING: Vintage Film “Performance Standards“ (w/ Subtitles)

This short, but sweet film highlights the application of the “Leistungsnorm 1“ or Performance Standard 1 of the Infantry Training Division. During the 70s, there was an increasing shift to reality-based assessment of training through short depictions of combat. This particular exercise, designed to simulate a typical Warsaw Pact mechanized offense, involves all the main tools at the disposal of the reinforced rifleman squad. The situation is represented as follows: - 250m: tanks appear on the crest of the hill. Engage with rocket launchers. - 200m: tanks and APCs continue their approach. Engage with rocket launchers. - 70m: APCs approach the position. Engage with rifle grenades. - 60-70m: infantrymen disembark. Engage with assault rifles. - 20m: infantrymen approach the firing position. Engage with hand grenades. All of this to be achieved in 3 minutes! Source: (C) VBS Mediathek, F 668.
