Full title reads: “RAF flying boat disaster. First pictures from Messina“. Italy. 9 RAF men and officers killed in aeroplane crash. Various shots of twisted wreckage of seaplane that has crashed into mountain. The plane was en route to Singapore from Britain. Men pick over the debris and examining it closely. Various shots of coffins of British airmen lying in state in Chappelle Ardante in Messina. Italian sailors and British Marines from cruiser Durban stand as guard of honour. Coffins are draped in Union Jacks and Flowers. Various shots of funeral procession through streets - coffins are on gun carriages. Italian and British Naval Officers are pall bearers, the carry the coffins on board Durban. The dead men will be buried on Malta.
