Theme of the Week #11 - Serenity (Main Theme)

Track Title: Serenity Movie: Serenity Main Theme Composer(s): David Newman Them of the Week: January 18, 2009 David Newman scored this sci-fi masterpiece with a main theme that, “would let viewers know that they were now “home“ and evoke the idea of the pioneer, when everyone only had what they could carry.“ The theme was constructed by the Hollywood Studio Symphony. It incorporated many strings to create the mournful, yet “warm“ theme. An acoustic version of the theme was also created to evoke the space western atmosphere of the film. Joss Whedon, creator of “Serenity,“ and the series it spun off of, “Firefly,“ co-produced the soundtrack and was real close to the production of this film’s signature theme.
