The original packaging for “Operation X-500“, which the toy was quickly renamed in 1960. Produced from 1959-62 only, this is an extremely rare piece today, and a valuable collectors item, especially in it’s original “Man In Space“ guise. The box art & packaging was identical for both issues, except the “Man In Space“ header was changed to “Amazing Value“, with “Operation X-500“ in much smaller print underneath. Deluxe Reading later evolved into Topper Toys, probably most famous for the “Johnny Lightning“ race car line.
