Building an Off Grid A-Frame Cabin in Alaska - TIMELAPSE - Episode 3

*Welcome back!* With near record amounts of snowfall this winter it has been a struggle to get back out to the cabin and make any progress. In this episode we finish sealing the underside of the cabin, insulate the floor, put in the subfloor, and frame the front for windows and doors. We also spend our first night in the cabin after we forget our tent. Day 23 was the last real day of work in 2022 and was a long one, we arrived on site at roughly 9am and took off after 2am the next day - working for nearly 17 hours in the cold. I wanted to get all the insulation out of the storage shelter and installed so we could take down the shelter before we started to get any major snow accumulation. Unfortunately, the shelter collapsed under the snow load some time before our next trip out. In 2023 I have been learning to set more realistic goals about what we can complete with each trip, as we always seem to overestimate what can be accomplished in a trip/weekend. With windows being 6-8 weeks out we needed to get the framing done so we could get the windows ordered ASAP. We are looking forward to spring’s arrival in Alaska which will bring more daylight, less snow (hopefully), and warmer temps.
