I hadn’t been to this park in many months so I decided to stop by to get some steps in and see what the changes are, if any. Gas Works Park was built on the location of a former coal gasification plant, and was acquired by the city of Seattle in 1965 and opened to the public as a park ten years later. A central feature, the boiler house, was converted to a picnic shelter complete with tables and fire grills. Gas Works Park was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.
