Drawing on a Croquis in Procreate

Sketching on my iPad in Procreate using fashion templates from my Croquis Kit Get the templates from the Croquis Kit: A Croquis is a drawing of a fashion model, figure, or template that can be traced to design clothing. The Croquis Kit includes female fashion figures, with 9 heads proportion, in front, back, side, and turned views. The kit also includes head, hand, feet, and accessory templates. It’s an instant download PDF file that can be printed or used digitally. Here’s my process for creating digital sketches with the Croquis Kit: 1) Save the template to my photos: take a screenshot by pressing and releasing the iPad’s top and home buttons at the same time 2) Open in a new layer Procreate: tap the “Actions“ button (wrench icon) in the toolbar at the top left of the screen. Tap “add” then “insert a photo” or “insert a file.” 3) Reduce the opacity and lock the layer: Tap the double rectangle symbol at the top right, tap the small letter on the right side of the layer, and move the slide under opacity to your desired level. Swipe the layer to the left and tap lock to lock the layer. Note: the opacity of a layer can’t be edited unless it’s unlocked. 4) Draw my design on top in a new layer: To create a new layer, tap on the layers icon at the top-right menu bar. Next, Tap on the create layer button ( ) at the top right corner. Now you can draw your sketch in a new layer independent of the croquis. This will allow you to see your illustration while still maintaining the underlying structure and guidelines of the croquis. To toggle the croquis visibility on and off, tap the check mark to the right of each layer.
