YOU KEEP ME HANGIN’ ON was originally recorded by THE SUPREMES in 1966 and must have been covered by a thousand different artists since then. Being a huge fan of the 80’s, I picked the version I’m most familiar with, the 1986 recording by English singer KIM WILDE, that transformed the classic Motown song into a typical mid-80’s hi-NRG tune. It’s been released as the second single from Kim’s fifth studio album ANOTHER STEP. Besides Kim’s powerful vocal performance and the countless synthesizer parts you can clearly hear the drums being the most remarkable piece of the production with that iconic, larger-than-life snare fill in particular. I don’t think it’s possible to listen to this tune and not get pumped while doing so, the energy is just impeccable.I tried to translate this into my drumming as well in order to do the track justice, so I really hope you’re going to enjoy my cover of this cover.
