On-point: Putin willing to visit North Korea at an early date; North to welcome Putin’s visit

北 “환대할 준비 돼 있다” 푸틴, 24년 만에 방북 가시화 North Korea over the weekend continued to give updates on its top diplomat Choe Son-hui’s visit to Russia, saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his willingness to visit Pyongyang in the near future. We’re joined by Dr. Bruce Kilinger this morning. Welcome. 1. If Putin does visit the North, that will probably come after the Russian presidential election, right? 2. There are growing concerns that North Korea may stage major provocations in the coming weeks and months ahead of the April general election in South Korea. The North has done that multiple times in the past. What is the North trying to achieve? 3. Then will the North’s strategy work? How will South Korea and its allies and partners counter growing threats from Pyongyang? 4. And the Northern Limit Line, the de facto inter-Korean maritime border, is where tensions may escalate, with Kim Jong-un pledging not to recognize the NLL. Why this area? What significance does it carry? 5. Last Friday, the North said it tested an underwater nuclear weapons system under development in response to the latest joint maritime exercise between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan. Why is the North showing off such underwater nuclear weapons? Thanks so much for your insight as always. Have a good night. #NorthKorea_Russia_relations #Vladimir_Putin #KimJongun #NorthKorea #ChoeSonhui #Russian_President #military_cooperation #북러관계 #푸틴 #북한 #Arirang_News #아리랑뉴스 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2024-01-22, 09:00 (KST)
