3 Basic Berimbolo Concepts: Mechanics and Defenses (BJJ /Jiu-Jitsu)

The berimbolo can be a complicated position to understand when you first get started in even when you first encounter it as an intermediate or advanced student. You’ll see it in no gi - inversions to the back and entry to the legs - but it gets even more involved when you start to work with gi grips at the sleeves, cuffs, collars and belt. Today we’re looking at 3 core elements of the berimbolo to keep in mind when you’re 1) doing the berimbolo, 2) caught in the berimbolo and 3) have to defend the berimbolo. The first has to do with the de la Riva hook and foot position, the second is the placement of the knees as a wedge to lift the hips, and the third is the transition from back exposure to back control. We go through what you need to look for if you’re going to work the berimbolo and - more importantly - how to respond when you’re tangled up in the grips. ⭐ ➡️ MY BIO (by John Danaher): Music ⓒ - Kevin MacLeod === Like this video?
