Mad - Mad 1972 Greece ,Prog Rock, Psychedelic Rock The tag on the sleeve stated ‘Rare Greek Psych Rock’, so how could I resist? Having investigated this online, it seems this is an incredibly rare record. There is only one listed on Popsike for instance. Released on the (EMI) Minos label in 1972, this is the sole album issued by Mad. Having no knowledge of the Greek Rock scene, to me this album has elements of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Traffic (the flute mainly), Aphrodites Child plus Earth & Fire (think ’Seasons’). A bit Folk-Prog-Psych-Rock all-in-all. The record has several hairline marks and apart from one vinyl blemish which affects the first couple of grooves during ’Kita Pros Ton Ilio’, this plays through beautifully with minimal surface noise. I would grade this as Excellent minus.
