Beth’s First Laryngoscopy - Vocal Cords in Action

From the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (with permission). This is what happens when I say “eee“ with a camera down my throat. There are no vocal nodules (don’t let the mucus confuse you) but you can see a slight thickening of the membrane where the nodes have been / could be in the future. Note also that the trachea is visible when I breathe. Cool huh? Actual size: roughly that of a quarter. (Note: If you think you’re really clever by making a comment comparing this to female genitalia, you’re not. I’ve deleted dozens, and yours will be next.)
