The African Vulture Crisis: Causes, Consequences, and Solutions (English version)

Vultures in Africa provide important municipal services to rural and urban communities. Their highly efficient work benefits the continent’s economy by removing livestock and wild animal carcasses and human-generated waste. Today, almost all African vulture species are in severe decline. The Multi-species Action Plan to Conserve African and Eurasian Vultures (MsAP) provides a framework of conservation actions for different stakeholders, including national and regional governments. Because vultures are slow to reproduce, their population recovery requires immediate action to avoid unnecessary costs to citizens. The time to act is now.
