Crazy moment wild elephants walk through China’s Kunming city after 500km journey

#elephants #wildelephants #elephantsincity #china #kunming The herd of wild elephants broke out of a nature reserve in southern China on April 16 before walking more than 300 miles and is now just two miles from the suburbs of Kunming city, which is home to 7million people. Hundreds of police officers and wildlife officials have been scrambled to stop the herd - comprised of three adult males, six adult females, three juveniles and three calves - using trucks to block roads while scattering 18 tons of pineapples and corn in an attempt to lure the animals away. Experts say it is unclear what prompted the migration, which is the longest recorded in China, but said it is possible the herd’s ’inexperienced’ male leader got lost and led the other animals astray.
