It is an exodus of people - people desperate to find refuge in places like Australia. Life in Afghanistan is as bad as it gets. Ruined by war and ruled by the hardline Islamic Taliban, the country has been devastated by drought and international sanctions. As Liz Hayes reports, it’s why the people smugglers are so hard to beat - the market for their services is huge and growing.
