Johann Schop, “Nasce la pena mia“

We chose this piece by Johann Schop (’t Uitnement kabinet, Amsterdam 1649) to explore the sound world of a Ruckers Double harpsichord in original disposition in combination with a violin. The harpsichord part is notated as a basso continuo line, based on the madrigal “Nasce la pena mia“ by Alessandro Striggio (Il primo libro de madrigali a sei voci, Venice 1565). The violin part is a composed diminution following the canto line of the madrigal. Eva Saladin, violin Johannes Keller, harpsichord Harpsichord by Matthias Griewisch 2016, after I. Ruckers 1638.
