The series, which is based on the true story of Candy Montgomery, a Texas housewife who killed her friend with an axe in 1980, is set to premiere later this year. Olsen will play Montgomery, while Jesse Plemons will portray her husband Pat. In an interview with Variety, Olsen said that she was drawn to the project because of its dark humor and complex characters. She also praised the show’s creator David E.
