Belarus finally offers shelter to stranded migrants after violent clashes on border with Poland

Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has lost its border battle with Poland, Warsaw has said, and now faces a humanitarian crisis with some 20,000 migrants stranded inside its territory. After an eight-day stand-off on the border, Belarus finally offered respite to migrants that had been camped out in freezing conditions in the hope of breaking through border defences to travel to the EU. And amid reports that migrants are being bussed away from the area surrounding the Kuznica border crossing, a deputy interior minister in Poland has boasted that “Lukashenko has lost the border battle”.
