Trajectory of the Trojan Asteroid Hektor Relative to the Jupiter Lagrange Point
This publication is a continuation of the video about the asteroid Hektor, which is a Trojan asteroid of Jupiter. In the previous animation, its orbit relative to the Sun and trajectory relative to Jupiter were shown in detail. Its trajectory relative to the L₄ Lagrange point of the Sun–Jupiter system was also shown. This video also shows the trajectory of the asteroid Hektor relative to the Lagrange point, but in more detail. The asteroid path is displayed over a much longer time interval to show how complex it is.
The trajectory looks complicated precisely relative to the Lagrange point. In fact, Hektor orbits the Sun in an almost circular orbit inclined to the plane of the ecliptic. The asteroid trajectory seems chaotic, but at the same time, some patterns can be seen in its motion. The trajectory is not closed even over a very, very long time interval. But at the same time, Hektor, in the process of his motion relative to the point L₄, does not go beyond a certain area. Other Trojan ast
