A Valkyrie is therefore a being who chooses a warrior in a battle to take to Valhalla. The Ride of the Valkyries is the name given to the orchestral prelude to the third act of Richard Wagner’s opera “Die Walküre“ and is one of Wagner’s most famous melodies.
