Cultural Performance in York 2011 by Kazakh

Culture performance at University of York ( UK) during international week. Location: Grand Opera House - York (21/2/2011) York Kazakh Society is proud to present a show about ancient Kazakhstan. At that time Kazakh people were pagans and worshiped the gods of nature. The story begins in a small Kazakh village. People there led happy and serene life until the tragedy happened in the face of Fire. It was a sudden and deathly disaster for Kazakh people who lived in the steppes. People begged Shaman to help them to fight with Fire. Shaman called out the Spirits of Ancestors and they appeared as Wolves. Wolves put all their effort to outfight the Fire but were defeated in that fierce battle. Looking at the agonising suffering of the people, the most powerful god of the Sky -- Tengri -- came down to Earth and gave his mercy by sending the rain to the steppes.
