Darning Hand Knit Socks with a Speedweve or Darning Loom ¦ The Corner of Craft

A bit of a different video today. I showed off this nifty knitting gadget in a previous vlog and on Instagram, and I had a lot of people ask me to demonstrate it. I’m not an expert, and I’m still learning, so this isn’t a tutorial in the strictest sense... More of a demonstration. About the Speedweve Darning Loom: The Speedweaver or Speedweve, is also known as Lancashire’s smallest loom. It was made in Manchester in the 1940’s/50’s and was very popular in post-war Europe, with many renditions popping up. The darning loom I have is just a replica of the original design, but is already proving to be so useful! As someone who hasn’t learnt how to darn in the traditional sense, this mini loom has allowed me to darn up a lot of hand knits, including socks, in record time! Plus visible mending is so cool looking.
