The conflict, the poor conditions and the frustration about this lead to entanglements that end as a tragedy. The fact that “West Side Story“ became one of the most famous musicals in history is due to its literary model “Romeo and Juliet“ and above all to the music of Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein is considered a border crosser between classical, modern and the jazz of his time.
