If you ever wondered how intercontinental ballistic missiles travelling at hypersonic speeds can be intercepted, this video by the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) shows one possible approach. MDA animation of a Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IIA missile intercepting an ICBM during a flight test demonstration in the broad ocean area northeast of Hawaii, Nov. 16. The event was designated as Flight Test Aegis Weapon System-44 (FTM-44), and is the sixth flight test of an Aegis BMD-equipped vessel using the SM-3 Block IIA guided missile. More details:
