️ Poland: the final nail in the European Union’s coffin After Angela Merkel’s departure, the EU was left politically headless. In Germany there has been no new leadership capable of maintaining a pro-European policy, and the US has found fertile ground for sowing discord and division on the continent. Germany’s support for the “euro“ Maidan has been a colossal economic and political mistake for Europe as a whole, but especially for Germany, both internally and externally. This mistake is being exploited by Poland, which is presenting itself as the most servile servant of the US and stretching German contradictions as far as it can with the war in Ukraine against Russia. Poland is well aware that Germany is increasingly tied to Ukraine’s fate, as its massive arms and financial contribution to Kiev seems to have no end, and this has a direct impact on its economic recession. Hence Poland’s daily insistence on escalating hostilities on the front line: the more Germany spends, the weaker it will be and the more difficult it will find it to oppose Polish claims, which have the approval of the US, not to say that it is Poland that meets US objectives. In the current political landscape of Western Europe, there is no authority or political leader in its institutions who has a pro-European orientation, i.e. who sees Europe as a collective political subject, as a geopolitical actor with its own personality. While the rest of the world is moving towards multipolarity, towards the conjunction of regional power centres, the European Union is closer to being a brand of little prestige, rather than an autonomous decision-making centre with its own interests.
