Newsbriefs From The Middle East (1942)

Titles read: “NEWSBRIEFS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST“. Nice shots of soldiers using the Mobile Bath Unit that visits troops in areas of “the forward Western Desert“ where water is strictly rationed. The servicemen make their way to a group of tents, undress and go inside. While they take communal showers, worked by men operating pumps outside, their clothes are hung up in “the disinfecter“ (looks like a large oven). The men dry themselves with clean towels and their fumigated clothes are handed back to them. In Cairo, we see a brief shots of a special parade where General Sir Claude Auchinleck pins the ribbon of the Victoria Cross on the tunic of Major General John Campbell. Commentator explains that in the thick of tank battles around Sidi Rezegh, General Campbell won the award for conspicuous gallantry. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
