His art brought him fame as one of the best conductors in Europe. His enormous erudition, broad creative outlook and versatile skills earned him fame among listeners and critics and respect among his colleagues. The beginning of his creative path was unusual: Carl Böhm was going to become a lawyer. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna, he even defended his doctoral thesis. However, he soon plunged headlong into music and studied in Vienna with E. Mandyczewski and G. Adler. Then Böhm had to spend several years in the army.
