In the last morning of his life, as recalls Giancarlo Stopponi in the BBC documentary, Lanza was singing in a voice so powerful he could be heard four floors down in the clinic Villa Giulia. Close to noontime Mario called Betty and said that soon he would be home. But by the time his car came for him he was already dead after a fatal heart attack. .
