One of a series of short films produced in 1969 by Charles Grinker and Mert Koplin, “Which Way USA -- Black Views on Race“ provided brief portraits of many African American leaders including Martin Luther King, Cassius Clay, Malcolm X, Bobby Seale, and others. This episode features Jack Robinson, better known as Jackie Robinson (1919 – 1972). Robinson became the first African American to play in Major League Baseball (MLB) when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. Robinson won the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award, played in six World Series and contributed to the Dodgers’ 1955 World Series championship. Robinson’s uniform #42 was retired across all major league teams. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! Se
