Home injection molding part 2: Machining a mold

Check out my 2nd channel, TT Racing: @ttracingYT It’s time for some home based injection molding. I’ve had this machine since 2014, but it has been sitting idle for a while now, due to an error on my part. Last time, I smashed some stuff to get it unseized. This video is all about mold making. Including 3D printing molds for silicone, and CNC milling aluminium molds for plastic using the Carvera desktop CNC. Not everything went as planned.. Please note that this machine is sold to suit 110V mains voltage. In Australia we use 220V, and I’m pretty sure I removed one heater and converted the other. If you also use 220V, you would need to do the same or use a step down converter. 0:00 Introduction Part 1: 0:43 Replacement washers / o-rings fail CNC Kitchen silicone sock video: RTV silicone wiki: Release agent: 6:10 Prepping mold material and cutters 10mm aluminium plate in Aus: 7:14 Target object 8:05 Designing the mold 9:39 CAM Kiri:Moto: 10:44 Machining and inspecting the mold Purchase the Carvera CNC (affiliate): Use code ’TeachingTech’ for a small discount. 12:04 Diagnosing the problem 13:30 Post processing the mold 14:49 Conclusion Buy quality and affordable filament from X3D.
