Eric Francis Harrison Coates (27 August 1886 – 21 December 1957) was an English composer of light music and, early in his career, a leading violist. This stemmed from a love of dancing; during the 1920s, Eric and Phyl were regular patrons of London’s exclusive night clubs and hotels including the Kit-Kat Club and the Savoy Hotel.
