SINGING from Lord of the Rings - CamillasChoice LOTR #2: “The road goes ever on and on“

Hi my wonderful friends and welcome back! You know I love Tolkien’s work so here is another one of the poems set to music. It is called ”The road goes ever on and on”. Lyrics: Tolkien Music: CamillasChoice This poem is found in multiple versions both in the LOTR and Hobbit. I decided to start out with the verses found in the LOTR books, and then go on to the verses found in the Hobbit. When making the music for this poem I was imagining a song that is sung both on the road but also around the table with good friends. Therefore I added some percussions that could be played by drumming on the table :) I wanted to create more of a wandering-humming-kind of feeling in the end so that section is very clean and soft. I really hope you like it! Sing along if you like: CHORDS: (The instrumental part is the same as the first 4 lines in the verses. All the verses has the same chords as below) .........C ..................G .......C The Road goes ever on and on ........... Down from the door where it began. .........C ..................G .......C Now far ahead the Road has gone, ....... And I must follow, if I can .... Pursuing it with eager feet, ... Until it joins some larger way ............ Where many paths and errands meet. .... And whither then? I cannot say. *** - The Fellowship of the Ring, Book I, Chapter 1. - The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say. - The Return of the King, Book VI, Chapter 6. - The Road goes ever on and on Out from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, Let others follow it who can! Let them a journey new begin, But I at last with weary feet Will turn towards the lighted inn, My evening-rest and sleep to meet. - The Hobbit, Chapter 19. - Roads go ever ever on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea; Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June, Over grass and over stone, And under mountains in the moon. Roads go ever ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Turn at last to home afar. Eyes that fire and sword have seen And horror in the halls of stone Look at last on meadows green And trees and hills they long have known. *** Find me on other platforms!
