Preparing the world for important population changes

United Nations - In 2015, the world will adopt a new set of goals for the next fifteen years of sustainable development. In designing and implementing the post-2015 agenda, with sustainable development at its core, it is important to fully understand and account for the demographic changes that are likely to unfold in the future. Through a deeper understanding of how the world is changing, combined with better planning, stronger partnerships, and greater political will, we can create a better tomorrow for both people and planet,“ said Mr. John Wilmoth, Director of UN DESA’s Population Division, as his division prepares for the upcoming 48th session of the Commission on Population and Development, which will take place at UN Headquarters in New York on 13-17 April.
