Van Gogh’s Daughter-Sacred Pole

Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: f there was a quintessential band of the 1990’s it would have been San Francisco,California’s Van Goghs’ Daughter, who began in 1993 and truly captured the decade in their music style combining alternative rock with a grunge flare and pop overtones thanks to the slicked polished vocals of Jane Woodman and Paige Weber, along with seasoned drummer Jeanne Hangauer and veteran Bay Area bassist Rachel Thoele of the Mudwimin and Fright Wig respectively. Van Gogh’s Daughter released one full length album in 1996 titled “Shove“ ,bolstered by the album’s lead single, “Through The Eyes Of Julie“ a catchy chorus heavy track that easily could have maintained commercial radio airplay. Although the album itself garnered nothing but positive reviews, lack of support from the record company and lack of marketing at the current time, has now left this sought after gem a collectable for any 90’s rock enthusiast. Van Gogh’s Daughter was over by 1998, only five years into their run, but their music lives on as a true testament to the 90’s music era.
