The House With The Brick-Kiln - E.F. Benson

The House With The Brick-Kiln by E. F. Benson. Edward Frederic Benson (1867 - 1940) was a prolific British writer, perhaps best known today for his Mapp & Lucia series of novels. In addition to his numerous novels and memoirs, Benson also wrote a considerable number of short stories, many of them of a markedly macabre or supernatural theme. The House With The Brick-Kiln first appeared in Benson’s 1912 collection The Room In The Tower and Other Stories. In this unsettling, subtly bloodcurdling tale, two friends who lease an isolated Sussex residence soon become drawn into a macabre web of supernatural menace and intrigue.
