Fur Coat (1953)

No titles. London. In Grosvenor Street workrooms we see various shots of furrier Leon Duval and colleagues working to produce a fur coat. Leon cuts and stretches mink skins with heads and paws attached (yuk). We then see various shots of the process involved in making the coat using the ’stranding’ method. Edward Whittaker makes v-shaped cuts in the skin, Mary Mouran and other women at sewing machines stitch the pieces into panels. Two men work to pin the panels to a board then flatten and trim them, then the half-finished coat is folded up and taken away.
