Moonbeams dance in the soft yellow light, Give vision to wild geese in their flight. Cornstalks have turned a golden brown, While frost lies thick and white on the ground. Huge pumpkins snuggle at the cornstalk’s feet, It’s the place where the harvest fairies meet. A meeting is called to see what can be done On Halloween night to have lots of fun. The corn must be shocked and put in place; Then the pumpkin carved with the funniest face Will have first place in the pumpkin parade, While witches and goblins will serenade The old black cat, and the owl in the tree. It’s enough to frighten the wits out of me. Weird little forms scuttle down the street Stopping at each house for trick or a treat. They are guided by the pumpkin with the funniest face, There isn’t much danger… but, just in case… It pays to be careful on Halloween night With bats and goblins and witches in flight.
