A German Masterpiece on WWII Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter is a three-part German TV movie that aired on ZDF and ORF from March 17 to March 20, 2013. The series was rebroadcast on 3sat on May 4, 5, and 6, 2015, to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. However, it received significant criticism in Poland and the United States due to what some perceived as a distortion of historical facts, despite the producers’ claim of artistic freedom. The English title of the series is Our Elder Generation. The first part is subtitled “Another Time,” the second “Another War,” and the third “Another Country.” The show follows five main characters—three men and two women—each representing a different narrative thread.
