Calling Dr. Kildare (1939) Lew Ayres, Lionel Barrymore, Laraine Day, Lana Turner

Senior physician Dr. Gillespie (Lionel Barrymore) sends his student, the overconfident intern James Kildare (Lew Ayres), to work in the dispensary with nurse Mary Lamont (Laraine Day). There, a man unwilling to go to emergency pleads with Kildare to examine his friend, who has been shot. Kildare treats and hides the wounded man, whom he learns is a murder suspect. Smitten by the victim’s attractive sister, Rosalie (Lana Turner), Kildare offers to help prove her brother’s innocence.
