Rad Racer or the Japanese name Highway Star (ハイウェイスター) is a racing video game developed and released in 1987 by Square for the Nintendo Entertainment System. North American and European releases were made by Nintendo of America and Mattel, respectively. Nasir Gebelli was the lead programmer, Hironobu Sakaguchi took over the design and direction of the project, and composer Nobuo Uematsu wrote the music for the soundtrack - all of them later became the creators of the famous Final Fantasy role-playing series in the same roles.
