Bespoke handsewn shoemakers

Deborah Carre and James Ducker of London handsewn shoemakers, carreducker, explain how they started together in business, describe how a pair of handsewn shoes are crafted and demonstrate some of the many, centuries-old techniques used to make their shoes. Fancy trying your hand at shoemaking? The design team run their own intensive shoemaking courses twice a year in London and New York. Students start with a pair of uppers and lasts and some 90 hours later they walk away with a pair of shoes they have crafted entirely by hand. A truly rewarding experience according to their students: “(I enjoyed) getting my hands dirty and making a pair of shoes that wasnt there three weeks before!“ “I was very happy with the small class size and individual attention“ “I wanted to know how the most expensive shoes are made by hand... and interested in ...the process to make strong shoes“ Film by: Small Fry Films
