Pescara is the largest metropolitan area in Abruzzo region of Italy. Pescara is located on the Adriatic coast, at the mouth of the Aterno-Pescara River. It is the capital city of the Province of Pescara. Pescara is also known as “the city of D’Annunzio“, being the birthplace of the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio and the place where he spent his childhood. The poet Gabriele D’Annunzio was born on March 12th, 1863. Overlooking the Adriatic Sea on one side and surrounded by the mountains of Abruzzo on the other, Pescara presents itself as a city with a thousand-year history, that is worth discovering. Originally known by the name Aternum, the city changed its name around the year 1000 when it became “Piscaria“ due to the abundance of fish in this area. Pescara is a lively and dynamic city that can be visited in every season of the year. The Sanctuary Church of the Divine Mercy (Santuario della Divina Misericordia) or The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built starting from 1886, in a neo-Romanesque style with some neo-Gothic elements such as the rose window. It is one of the most important historical and artistic testimonies of the city of Pescara. The façade is characterized by a vertical tripartition with the artistic rose window below the portal. The portal is decorated with motifs in late medieval style with twisted columns. Inside there are three naves punctuated by bundled pillars in Gothic art. The central nave culminates with a semicircular apse embellished by the ancient mosaic depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus. #Pescara, #Pescara_Italy, #Pescara_Italia, #Abruzzo_Italy, #Abruzzo_Italia, #Italy, #Italia, #Italian, #Italian_Places, #Italian_Attractions, #Travel_in_Italy, #Travel, #Viaggi, #Dante120, #Travel_Vlog, #Vlog_di_Viaggio, #Walking_Tour, #City_Walk 00:01 INTRO 00:32 Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 01:11 Via Piave 03:13 Via C.
