We’ve seen similar methods such as Powerlinking which enabled 2 different types of robots combine in order to become more powerful. 1 of the first examples of this was Optimus Prime and Jetfire in Transformers Armada. Revenge of the Fallen would go on to adapt this concept with Jetpowered Optimus. But after that we didn’t really see two different Autobots combine in the Live Action Transformers movies.
