Spanish Ladies, Royal Navy song

February 1793: The French Republic declares war on the Kingdom of Spain, creating a brief Anglo-Spanish alliance against the revolution. This is a reasonably well-known sea shanty that describes a Royal Navy ship’s return voyage from Spain to England. It is believed to have first appeared during the War of the First Coalition from 1793-96, during which Britain and Spain were allied against France and Royal Navy ships regularly visited Spanish ports to deliver supplies.
