Iconic Performance: Tynybekova Becomes Kyrgyzstan’s First World Champ

Aisuluu TYNYBEKOVA (KGZ) faced a daunting path at the 2019 World Championships but became Kyrgyzstan’s first-ever world champion after five wins in Nur-Sultan. The 27-year-old’s route to the 62kg gold medal included victories over Yukako KAWAI (JPN), a defending world finalist, and past world title holders, Yuliia TKACH OSTAPCHUK (UKR) and Taybe Mustafa YUSEIN (BUL).
