Forty-eight year old Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) is soloist, and conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in this 1966 performance of Mozart’s 15th piano concerto in B flat, K. 450. Bernstein recorded with Columbia Masterworks Records almost exclusively starting in the 1950s; this particular performance, on the Decca label, is one of only three known recordings (the other two being Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique (1976) for EMI, and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (1981) for Philips) that Bernstein did not
