METDOG - “Questions and Answers Regarding Computers And Screens“ (2024, full album)

We have to confess that although we have enjoyed and promoted it like few others, we are starting to be a bit fed up with that invention called “egg punk“, more than for saturation, for lack of new ideas, and sincerely what some people are starting to call “second wave of egg punk“, in most cases seems to us a too dangerous continuation of more of the same, except for honorable exceptions like this one, in which aussies Metdog score, in our humble opinion, the healthy evolution that this “punk subgenre“ should follow, and there can’t be a more surprising, fun and in style sample than their new kilometric titled album, “Questions and Answers Regarding Computers And Screens“, on Critter records. What an addictive insanity! Is it weird? Of course it is... And fun? To the point of losing your mind, but it goes beyond that, dammit! I can listen to this album at home... over and over again, you get hooked on it with no remedy, these guys have set out to sound good and achieve more elaborate productions, in this case by the hand of the reliable Tom Pleasance, although all that makes real sense when you get to tracks as sensational as their fourth cut, “Screen Time“, one of the catchiest tracks I’ve heard in years! At that point you realize that these guys despite their youth have done their homework, so at this point they either listen to a lot of 80’s synth-wave and primitive New York New Wave, or they seem to have hired the same muse, although the whole album is a real eclectic madness, but from that moment on you start to take this much more seriously..... This is not going to be a passing fad, Metdog are here to stay, and from now on they will always be on your new favorite bands list! Released via Critter Records: 00:00 01.
