GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Avalanche () | Eastern-Western Conference Showdown in Colorado

The Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Colorado to take on the Avalanche, in a battle of two of the top teams in the league. Both sides were scoreless in the first period of play but Colorado struck first in the second, giving them a 1-0 advantage. Sidney Crosby was able to tie things up at 1, but the Avalanche answered right back to reclaim the lead. The third period would follow a similar script as Mike Matheson found the back of the net for the Penguins to even the score only for Colorado to answer right back. Pittsburgh battled hard in the closing minutes but ultimately fell to Colorado by a score of 3-2. The teams will meet again for a rematch on Tuesday.
